In his free time Alex likes to ride dirt bikes and fish with his friends.
Alex Archer grew up being fascinated by garbage trucks and wanting to work on one every day. Alex’s family, though, was in the construction business, and after graduating from Ankeny High School in 2016, he realized that would be a better fit.
Today Alex is an apprentice for Fleming Construction. He works closely with project leads, learning from them, making sure that everything runs smoothly, and lending a helping hand in every aspect of the project. His favorite project to date has been the downtown loft. Alex believes Fleming is unique because of the pride they have in their work and the attention they pay to every detail.
“If you are going into the trades, most people think you have to go to school. That’s not true. If you find a job you like with a good company, school might not be necessary. If you waiver and don’t know if construction is what you want, go to school.”
