Types of Academic Essays
An essay is a literary composition that outlines an author’s argument. However, the definition of an essay has been rewritten to include a newspaper article, a novel, a book or even an e-book. Essays are traditionally classified as academic and formal, depending on their purpose. In essays written for a classroom at a university for instance the general tone is one of intelligence and sophistication, whereas a pulp magazine article tends to be one of fun and whimsicality. The difficulty in writing essays is in determining a clear theme and then creating this theme in a way that is sufficient in the essay to make it both accessible and appealing to a variety of readers.
One of the most important components of an essay is the structure. Each paragraph must be able to support the thesis or idea that is at the heart of it and have a well-thought-out conclusion. A well-structured essay has four major sections: introduction and body, then conclusion and conclusion. The introduction is usually the most important section of the essay since it provides the reader with the necessary information to get started reading. The body of the essay is concerned with the thesis or topic of the essay. The body of the essay is where the author can summarize all the ideas that are made throughout the essay and make them into full-fledged arguments.
The body of the essay must be a development of the argumentative theme in discussion. This is the place where a writer can write both an argument or narrative. This is especially the case if they are drawing on their own personal experiences (e.g., a case study) or using research reports (e.g., a research essay). The argumentative essay, also referred to as a thesis statement, is the most popular form of argumentative essay. It is a piece of writing that draws together all of the different points of view or opinions accessible to the author and assembles them into a single, logical viewpoint. The thesis statement may vary substantially from one author to another, depending on the specific topic to be discussed.
The introduction is where the writer begins their essay. The introduction is where the reader first encounters the ideas contained in the body of the essay. Most essays contain some sort of introduction. This can be accomplished in a number of ways. The traditional way to introduce an essay is to briefly talk about the topic. Modern methods to introduce the subject include a discussion between the writer and the reader at the start of the essay.
One of the most popular ways of starting an essay is with the discussion of the thesis statement or central argument. The thesis statement is often developed within the context of the entire essay. If the essay is based on personal experiences, for example, then an introduction might discuss the process by which the essay came to be written, what the perspective of the writer is, and what assumptions he is making and how they are correlated to his or her personal experiences. For example an essay on research could contain a thesis statement that describes the study conducted by the author and be able to discuss the factors that led to the findings and data.
A discussion of the thesis statement is a different method of beginning an essay. This can be done either within the body of the essay, as in the case of an introduction, or it may be done with the reader’s mind, as in the case of an essay that is narrative. A narrative essay contains, at its core an entire story or a set of stories. The story’s primary hire someone to write an essay subject is the main character. The events of the plot help to develop the perspective of the protagonist throughout the essay. Narrative essays allow the writer the opportunity to fully explore the essay’s primary theme.
The third kind, the expository essay, focuses on the descriptive essay’s content. The goal of an expository essay is to provide new and relevant information about the subject of the essay. If the essay is about Shakespeare or the play, the argument could be based on the letters Shakespeare wrote to Elizabeth his wife while she was living in exile in West Indies. The writer creates a detailed profile of the character and reveals aspects of his personality that aren’t revealed in his writing.
Essays are written in order to convince readers to convince them by your arguments and entertain them with your writing. Academic essays are written to make the student read what you wrote and draw an conclusion. It is crucial to keep these three elements in mind while writing your essay. If you do, you will see that your essay will not only be more intriguing but also more beneficial to the reader.
